Drywall screws have a drill tip or pointed tip on the end to facilitate penetration of materials. Thread types include coarse thread, fine thread, twin-fast thread, full thread and half thread. Types of Drywall Screws

Coarse Thread Drywall Screw

Also known as g-type or w-type drywall screws, the sharp, wide threads bite deeply into the wood substrate and are not easily loosened. Used for fixing plasterboard to timber keel.

Fine Thread Drywall Screw

Fine Thread Drywall Screws have a small thread pitch and cut smoothly, reducing damage to the metal substrate. Used for fixing gypsum board and light steel keel.

Partially Thread Drywall Tapping Screw

Screws are partially threaded and are used in drywall for low strength installations.
